The Tudor Black Bay 54 ref. M79000N-0001 is a compact 37 mm stainless-steel dive watch that closely reflects the proportions and visual language of Tudor’s earliest diving watches. Its black domed dial is paired with a unidirectional steel bezel fitted with a black aluminium insert deliberately free of minute graduations, echoing the simplified appearance of early 1950s dive-watch bezels. The case measures 11.2 mm thick, while the three-link steel bracelet uses Tudor’s T-fit rapid-adjustment clasp. Water resistance is rated to 200 metres.
Inside is Tudor’s self-winding Manufacture Calibre MT5400, a COSC-certified movement offering approximately 70 hours of power reserve. The movement provides hours, minutes and seconds only, preserving the clean no-date layout and straightforward tool-watch character of the model.
Reference M79000N-0001 is particularly significant within the Black Bay family because it is the closest modern interpretation of Tudor’s first dive watch, the Oyster Prince Submariner ref. 7922. Its 37 mm proportions, minimalist bezel and restrained black-dial configuration give the model a distinctly vintage-inspired identity while retaining contemporary movement performance and everyday durability.
